Ryan Smith, Sebastian Welsh and Nick Bryant have been selected to represent Vic Metro for this week's 2023 Toyota Wheelchair AFL National Championships.

Welsh's inaugural state selection is another distinction in an already outstanding season, which has come complete with club Best & Fairest, CWFL Premiership, CWFL Grand Final best-on-ground and 100-goal season honours.

The young Saint scored 101 goals for the season - including eight in August's Grand Final - between both the CWFL and VWFL competitions, earning best-on-ground honours in the process as the Saints claimed their maiden flag in the competition.

Bryant himself is also coming off the back of a Best & Fairest campaign for St Kilda's VWFL team, while Smith has been a selected at the National Championships for the third time in his career.

Taking place from November 2-5 at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville, every state and territory will be represented at the carnival, along with sides from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Returned Services League of Australia (RSL).

A lightning carnival format consisting of 37 games will take place over the first two days, with the top-five teams progressing to division one and the remaining four teams placed into division two, with the championships culminating in grand finals on Sunday.

Entry to any of day of the National Championships is free, with the event to also be streamed live on Kayo.
