VFL MATCH CENTRE: Round 7 v Blues
BLUES 2.4 6.7 8.7 9.11 (65)
ZEBRAS 1.5 2.6 5.8 6.11 (47)
Zak Jones
30 disposals, five tackles, three goals
Played a very good game as an inside midfielder. Kicked three goals to get us back in the game in the third quarter and showed great leadership throughout the whole game.
Tobie Travaglia
30 disposals, eight marks, seven intercepts
Won a lot of the footy around the ground but is still working on his defensive craft. Was able to win some one-on-one’s and ran really hard to outnumber and get the ball.
Arie Schoenmaker
25 disposals, 21 kicks, 80% disposal efficiency
Arie had a good battle with some of their forwards and had a couple of wins in defensive one-on-one’s which has been a focus of his. Used the ball really well out of the backline and had plenty of rebounds out of the back 50.
Hunter Clark
24 disposals, seven tackles, eight clearances, five inside 50's
Really consistent across the four quarters and showed strong body work around the contests that lead to a high number of tackles and clearances. He’s continuing to build back into some great form and fitness.
Max Heath
17 disposals, seven marks, five inside 50's, 12 hitouts
He was solid and had some great battles with their rucks and provided a great target for us up forward even with the conditions not great for marking.
Harry Boyd
10 disposals, 24 hitouts, one goal
Had a good battle with Marc Pittonet in the ruck which seemed to be a pretty even contest. Some of his running patterns were really strong and he was again able to go forward and give us a goal.
Angus Hastie
17 disposals, four marks, three intercepts
Had himself a frustrating night but still gave some good drive off half back and contributed well with his run and ball use out of the back half that is important to the team.
Angus McLennan
12 disposals, four tackles, eight intercepts
Was pretty unwell during the game but still found a way to dig in and continues to read the play well and read our system really well. He had some really good intercepts and could have had more in better conditions.
Jack Carroll
14 disposals, six tackles, six inside 50's
Had a bit of a slower start to the game but worked his way into it and came away with some nice stats in his tackles and inside 50 count. Coming back from injury he’s still looking to put a four-quarter performance together.
Liam Henry
18 disposals, three clearances
Similarly to Jack (Carroll) in that he started a bit slower but was able to get going a little more in the third quarter when put into the midfield. He’s still building his fitness and some strength in his lower body but is showing flashes of brilliance when he gets the ball.
Isaac Keeler
Nine disposals, three marks, one goal
Had a bit of a frustrating night where he was beaten in a few one-on-one’s but he kept himself in the game and was able to kick a goal late in the game which was important.
Lance Collard
Seven disposals, three tackles inside 50, three inside 50's
Was backing up after being the sub the night before which was a good effort. Probably didn’t have as many involvements as he would have liked as that small forward but still showed some work rate and is working on getting to more contests.
James Barrat
Nine disposals, six intercepts
He had a nice amount of contested footy as he continues to develop his craft and decision-making surrounding when to fly and mark or spoil. He continues to be aggressive and tough which we like.
Alex Dodson
Eight disposals, five inside 50's
Also had a bit of a frustrating night as a key forward on a night where the conditions weren’t really suiting his marking ability. Spent a bit of time in the ruck where he’s developing his craft there and his forward patterns.
