IN HIS debut season, Tom Curren has given the St Kilda faithful a glimpse of his professionalism and talent, winning the Robert Harvey Most Professional Player Award.

He is revered for his meticulous and relentless approach to football and the Club as a whole.

The 21-year-old spent all of 2012 and the large majority of 2013 toiling away in the VFL, racking up possessions and never losing faith that an elevation to the senior list was too far away.

Finally the call came, and he has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Curren debuted against Port Adelaide in Round 17 and immediately looked comfortable at the elite level, kicking a crucial late goal after coming on as a sub.

Four weeks later he collected 20 disposals against Hawthorn and spent the second half of the game on prolific ball-winner Sam Mitchell.

The following weekend he went one better, and ran with dangerous Sydney premiership player Daniel Hannebery for the entire contest – holding him to just 18 disposals.

Curren continued his strong run of form, registering 22 possessions against Gold Coast and a career-best 26 touches in the final round of the season against Fremantle.

Curren’s dedication, unquenchable thirst for success and professionalism sets the standard for all aspiring you footballers to follow. In the space of seven weeks, he went from a good VFL player to a well-respected AFL performer.

The future is bright for Tommy Curren.
