ST KILDA has selected Woodville-West Torrens midfielder Luke Dunstan with selection number 18 in the 2013 National Draft.

A South Australian who has been in the system since he was 15, Dunstan will turn 19 before the 2014 AFL season commences, and is highly touted for his leadership and willingness to win the inside ball.

The left footer skippered the victorious South Australian Under 18 team in the 2013 Championships and averaged 23 disposals throughout the carnival.

Even more impressive than the sheer number of touches he won was the way in which he won them. Steadfast in his desire to put his head over the ball, 40 per cent of Dunstan’s disposals were contested and he was suitably awarded South Australia’s joint MVP for the tournament.

Dunstan hasn’t been without his fair share of injury concerns and played just one game before the National Championships, not that this was evident with his terrific form throughout the carnival impressing onlookers.

Woodville-West Torrens talent manager Shane Grimm spoke highly of the tenacious ball-winner: “I reckon he could go to a club and play straight away given he’s been living the life of a professional footballer for the past year.”

Dunstan has been on the sidelines recently due to a leg injury which isn’t expected to impact on his first pre-season with St Kilda.
