ST KILDA defender James Gwilt will miss this weekend's clash against Gold Coast with a hamstring strain.

The left footer has been withdrawn from the 25-man squad which will be finalised on Friday afternoon, with Tom Simpkin his replacement on the extended bench.

The severity of Gwilt's hamstring injury, which he sustained at training on Friday, will be assessed in the coming days

St Kilda will name its final 22 at 4pm on Friday with three emergencies.

Gwilt, 27, has played 117 games for the Saints since debuting in 2005. This year he averages 16.6 disposals per outing.
