ST KILDA has been humbled to the tune of 86 points by Collingwood in its Round 11 Friday night clash.

The Saints held a two-goal lead for a short time in the first term, but were never truly on top in the game again, conceding over 100 points for the fourth straight match.

Undoubtedly the shining light for St Kilda was Cameron Shenton, who in just his fourth game, collected a career-best 24 touches and four rebound 50s on the potentially dangerous duo of Jarryd Blair and Jamie Elliot.

Aside from Shenton's sheer numbers, which were impressive, it was his audacious run and carry which stood head and shoulders above many of his teammates and looks to have cemented his position in St Kilda's back six for the foreseeable future.

Fellow half-back Jack Newnes was also excellent, gathering 25 possessions to go with his 29 against the Gold Coast two weeks ago.

Newnes has rapidly progressed from a bit-part link player to an integral ball-winner and much like the bearded Shenton, is never afraid to take the game on.

Leigh Montagna, Lenny Hayes and Luke Dunstan all fought hard in the midfield battle, although Dayne Beams and Scott Pendlebury hurt the Saints on the spread more than Alan Richardson would have liked.

Nick Riewoldt's first three quarters were typically industrious, however much like the team he skippers, Riewoldt faded in the final term and finished with a handy contribution of three majors for the evening.

Unlike the Saints earlier games against Adelaide and then Hawthorn, the margin only blew out in the dying minutes, however beyond about halfway through the second term, the result appeared a foregone conclusion.

Earlier in the game Maverick Weller was concussed and subbed out for Clint Jones, who spent much of the night on Pendlebury.

Terry Milera also worked hard up forward, as did Aaron Siposs - both players booted one major apiece, while Billy Longer had the better of Jarrod Witts in the rucking department.

Collingwood's Travis Cloke enjoyed a timely return to form from a Magpies perspective, booting five goals on Luke Delaney. His efforts were well complemented by the opportunistic Alex Fasolo, who finished the night with four majors.
