St Kilda defender Jarryn Geary has re-signed with the club for a further two years in a deal that will see him become a 10-year player with the Saints.

Geary was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season but chose to stay with St Kilda.

The 26-year-old has played 100 games for the Saints since he was recruited to the club via the rookie draft in 2007.

Geary said he was excited to commit to the Saints for a further two years.

“I am very proud to be a part of the St Kilda Football Club. The club has been great to me right throughout my career and I never seriously considered any option other than staying a Saint,” Geary said.

“I feel I have plenty to offer the club and I am committed to helping to grow and develop our young playing list.”

Geary has spent the past two years in St Kilda’s leadership group and finished fourth in the club best and fairest last year after a sixth-place finish in 2012.

St Kilda Head of Football Chris Pelchen said Geary provided valuable leadership to the Saints.

"We are very pleased to have completed a contract extension for Jarryn,” said St Kilda Head of Football Chris Pelchen.

"Jarryn is developing into a genuine leader at the Saints - with his application to his football, both on and off the field, providing valuable direction to our players and has become an important role model within our player group."
