The St Kilda Football Club has officially launched the Saints Bequest Society at a grand High Tea event last Friday afternoon at the Conservatory at Crown.

Life members, club volunteers, coterie members, corporate partners as well as former players and officials attended the High Tea to celebrate the launch of the Saints Bequest Society.

Those in attendance were informed about the benefits of the Saints Bequest Society and how they can become involved.

Saints Bequest Society members will have access to special social gatherings and club luncheons as well as being recognised on a perpetual honour board.

The Saints Bequest Society was formed as part of the St Kilda Football Club Foundation Limited to help ensure St Kilda’s long-term future and to allow supporters the chance to leave an enduring legacy with their beloved Saints.

St Kilda President Peter Summers and CEO Matt Finnis were on hand for the launch that officially recognised lifelong Saints fans John Lattanzio and Barbara Datson as the inaugural members of the society.

Recently inducted St Kilda life member Bruce Eva acted as Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon while former St Kilda captain and official club Legend Neil Roberts spoke in his new role as the Saints Bequest Society Patron before presenting Mr Lattanzio and Ms Datson with Saints Bequest Society pins and membership certificates to acknowledge their induction into the program.

Similar bequest programs are in place at sporting clubs, schools and charities around the world.

St Kilda’s General Manager – Partnerships and Foundations Glenn Tanner said the Saints Bequest Society was the perfect vehicle for St Kilda people to extend their lifelong support of the club.

“The option is now there for Saints fans to support their club forever and leave a tangible contribution to the red, white and black long after they have finished cheering the team on,” Tanner said.

“But we are fully aware that participation is subject to everyone’s own individual circumstances and there are no expectations or pressures for supporters to take part.

“Those who choose to do so will immediately be recognised by the club and have the opportunity to participate in special club functions and events with like-minded Saints supporters.”

Contributions can be tailored according to each individual’s wishes, with any donations to be equally divided between current Saints Marching Fund projects and the Endowment Fund, unless otherwise stipulated.
