St Kilda Football Club would like to congratulate Mornington Peninsula domestic violence campaigner, Rosie Batty, on being named the Victorian Australian of the Year.

Since the tragic death of her 11-year old son Luke in Tyabb earlier this year, Rosie has given a voice to thousands of victims, championing efforts to fight domestic violence in the community.

“Rosie’s strength and commitment in bringing this issue to light is truly inspirational,” St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis said.

“It takes a courageous person to stand up for what is right and we congratulate Rosie on this recognition, especially given the circumstances she has endured.”

Last month the club supported a Peninsula Voice forum on the Mornington Peninsula, which helped bring the issue to the forefront.

St Kilda Football Club is committed to supporting the Luke Batty Foundation’s campaign through donations and assistance and will continue to work with Rosie to spread this important message through the wider community.
