FOR the first time ever, Saints fans will have the chance to kick the footy after home games this season.

The popular initiative will be trialled for all Sunday fixtures in April and May, giving St Kilda supporters three opportunities to pack a football and have a kick on the turf after the second siren.

St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis said having a kick after the game tied in with the club’s push to further engage with its fans.

“Sunday games are being promoted by the AFL as family friendly so we think it is terrific that youngsters will be able to emulate their heroes by having a kick on the ground after games,” Finnis said.

"Our fans have been unanimous in their desire for this. We’re thrilled that Etihad Stadium have come to the party.

“We’re looking forward to seeing plenty of red, white and black jumpers out on the oval next Sunday.”

Kick to kick after the match is just one of many wins for fans planning to attend games in 2015.

As previously announced, children under the age of 15 will be permitted to all Sunday games free of charge, while Four ‘n Twenty pies will retail for just $3 for all Sunday fixtures.

St Kilda has eight Sunday matches at the venue this year.

The other initiatives that will greatly benefit the match day experience are:

  • Regular chips will sell at all AFL matches at Etihad Stadium from a starting point of $4
  • Free popcorn will be distributed at half time to kids at Sunday games
  • Kids’ meal deals will exist at all games – a snack pack of hot chips, a cheese burger and a 350ml Mount Franklin will retail for $8. Each pack  will contain a small gift
  • A pot of beer will retail at $5 at all games
  • The venue will install a total of 10 water fountains, providing chilled, continuous water, across all three  levels of Etihad Stadium, enabling water to be accessed free of charge at any time throughout a game (some additional partnerships in relation to this program will be announced in the days ahead)

Etihad Stadium CEO Paul Sergeant also said 2015 is ‘the year of the fan,’ as illustrated by the range of exciting initiatives.
