Sandringham senior coach and St Kilda development coach Paul Hudson runs a ruler over the individual performance of the Saints-listed players following Sunday's big win over Frankston.

MATCH REPORT: Paddy boots four in Sandringham win

Tom Lee

Tommy played in defence for 95 per cent of the game. We threw him forward for the last few minutes and he kicked a goal, but he largely played as a defender. He was reasonably solid down back, had 18 touches and competed strongly.

Eli Templeton

Eli played on the wing and at times went into the midfield. He had 23 possessions and 10 marks, 10 clearances plus kicked three goals. So just on those stats alone, Eli had a good game and had a real influence on the contest. He pushed hard forward, got in the right spots and got involved.

Brenton Payne

Payney played down back and didn’t have a massive game in terms of numbers, but when he did get it he gave us some really good offensive run off half-back. He laid five tackles and impacted defensively, so that was pleasing too.

Hugh Goddard

Hugh was solid in defence with 12 marks and 23 touches. He was very rarely beaten and difficult to get past. It’s been an excellent two weeks for Hugh – his form is good.

Darren Minchington

Darren was probably our best player with 19 possessions and four goals. He also had seven tackles which showed what a well-rounded game he played.

Blake Acres

Blake had 17 touches and played a similar role to Eli, mostly on the wing but also on the ball at various times. He managed to kick a goal and looked very good offensively. Defensively, he was solid but still has some areas to tighten up in regards to running patterns.

Paddy McCartin

Paddy was a really good target up forward all afternoon. He kicked 4.3 and gave another couple off, so he easily could have kicked a big bag. It was a pleasing return for Paddy and for us after his strong fourth quarter the week before.

Josh Saunders

Josh played the majority of the game as a half-forward and on the ball occasionally. He got a lot of the ball but had more handballs than kicks, so we want that statistic to be the other way around because if it is, then he will be more damaging as a player.

Tom Hickey

Tom was good in the ruck and won the majority of the taps. He also took a couple of strong marks but didn’t hit the scoreboard like he did last week.

Daniel McKenzie

Dan has a real crack every single week. He had 21 touches, five tackles and kicked a goal. We’re really impressed with his intensity and the way he uses his legs to break away from packs.

Joe Baker-Thomas

We wanted to expose Joe while we had a chance and he did some good things. Obviously he still has areas to work on, but as a defender he’s certainly improving at a steady rate.

Jason Holmes

Holmesy was dominant in the ruck and good around the ground. He’s continually getting better and better on a weekly basis. He understands the nuances of the game much more now which is helping is running patterns around the ground.

Spencer White

Spencer White looked like his was up and about but unfortunately hurt his ankle late in the first quarter and didn’t come back on.

DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

Lewis Pierce

Lewis was really good. He had a great attitude going back and playing with the development squad and did what he had to do. He got around the ground, dominated the ruck, and took some really strong grabs all over the park.

Brodie Murdoch

Brodie took a while to get going because he hasn’t played in so long, but once he did get the pace of the game he played his role, mostly as a winger. We were just hoping that he would get through the game which he did, so that was a positive. He’ll be better for the run.
