The Saints will wear a limited edition commemorative guernsey to mark indigenous round this week when they go up against Brisbane in round nine on Sunday.

The design was created by indigenous artist Marcus Lee and represents the six clans of the Boonwurrung that now live in harmony.

The concept features six concentric circles that symbolically refer to the geographic layout of the Boonwurrung Bay region which extends along the northern, eastern and southern shorelines of Port Phillip, the Mornington Peninsula, Western Port and its two main islands, and land to the south-east down to Wilsons Promontory.

The clans are known as Yaluk-ut weelam, Ngurrak weelam, Mayune baluk, Boonwurrung baluk, Yawen djeera and Yaluk baluk.

Born and raised in Darwin Northern Territory, Marcus Lee is a descendant of the Karajarri people. Drawing on his Aboriginal heritage, Lee is passionate about communicating cultural diversity and helping to improve the living standards of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

The 2015 Indigenous Round acknowledges the contribution indigenous footballers have made to the game, celebrating the diversity and inclusion of the unity of two cultures.

St Kilda is in the process of drafting its initial Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) which will be launched by the committee later in the year.

The AFL and St Kilda also support the Recognise campaign which will be promoted through every AFL match this round. The 'R' symbol is imprinted on the top right hand side of the guernsey to represent 'Recognise'. The campaign focuses on recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the constitution.
