Sandringham senior coach and St Kilda development coach Paul Hudson runs a ruler over the individual performance of the Saints-listed players following Sunday's win.

MATCH REPORT: Zebras topple ladder leaders

VFL STATS: Round 7

Farren Ray

Farren played on the wing and got back in defence and helped out. The fact he had seven inside 50s shows that he covered some good territory for us. His work rate was tremendous.

Josh Saunders

Josh had a day out. He kicked four, had 25 touches and laid five tackles. His finishing capped off a really good game. He also covered a lot of ground both defensively and offensively.

Tom Curren

We played Tommy up forward and to rack up 22 touches was an excellent return. It was pleasing that he kicked three goals and that was pretty much what we asked him to do this week. We know that he can play on-ball, but we had him play down forward.

Seb Ross

Seb had is a good solid game with plenty of grunt work in the clinches for us. He was our highest clearance player and had 12 contested possessions.

Darren Minchington

Darren was another one who we played through the forward-line and not as much through the midfield. He had 19 touches and eight tackles. He was pretty good in the clearances and looked really dangerous when he was on the move in our forward 50.

Nathan Wright

Nathan was pretty solid across half-back, giving us some good run and rebound. He just needs to be mindful on defending a crumb so that he doesn’t lose his opponent. In saying this, that is only a minor point because his overall game was excellent.

Hugh Goddard

Hugh was our best defender. He played on Majak Daw and did a reasonable job, as well as taking seven marks himself. He held his own all day.

Tom Simpkin

Tommy had another good game. I keep saying it every week, but he is consistent for us defensively and on offense is trying to get used a little bit more.

Sam Gilbert

Sam got through unscathed. He had 12 touches playing in defence and gave us some good run off half-back. His leadership and direction down there was tremendous.

Tom Lee

Tommy probably had a quieter day. He was playing on bigger opponents which made it difficult but his head never dropped and we were pleased with the way he continued to give great effort. His ball use was pretty good.

Tim Membrey

The stats don’t accurately indicate how Tim played this week. He only had 11 touches and six marks, but it was the way he went about it that was most impressive. He put on great pressure and was a real presence down forward for us, creating opportunities for others.

Brodie Murdoch

Brodie didn’t have a massive game in terms of numbers, but he used the ball well when kicking it inside 50 and was strong in the contest around the ground.

Lewis Pierce

Lewis stepped up when Paddy went down injured and had a good game. He kicked our first goal and spent the majority of the day playing forward.

Jason Holmes

Jason had 26 hit outs and a couple of clearances. Once again, his work at ground level was excellent.

Paddy McCartin

Paddy made a promising start with three touches in the first five minutes, but was concussed and that was the end of his day. He was looking pretty dangerous.

DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
Joe Baker-Thomas

Joe really improved this week. His positioning in defence and reading of the play was really good and he was used offensively too.

Brenton Payne

Brenton played up forward and kicked three goals. He had a good game and is continuing to develop nicely.
