ST KILDA will give Nick Riewoldt every chance to prove his fitness for Sunday’s Maddie’s Match against Richmond, but will not take any unnecessary risks, according to GM of Football Performance Jamie Cox.

The Saints skipper had scans yesterday after feeling tightness in his right calf towards the end of Sunday’s game against GWS.

Although the scans revealed a slight strain, Cox said they did not show enough to rule Riewoldt out yet.

“It’s a very low grade injury and it’s certainly not enough to rule him out now,” Cox told SAINTS.com.au.

“We will let it settle and see how it responds. We’ll treat it accordingly and won’t take undue risks.

“The good news is there is nothing significant enough to rule him out today. It’s all about how he settles and they will test him later in the week.”

Riewoldt, 32, missed three games earlier this year with an injury to his left calf.
