Sandringham senior coach and St Kilda development coach Paul Hudson runs a ruler over the individual performance of the Saints-listed players following Sunday's win.

MATCH REPORT: Zebras storm home

Luke Delaney

Luke played in defence and was rarely out-marked. He did his job and performed well for us.

Tom Hickey

Tom played predominantly forward. He won his hit outs and played probably 30 per cent of the game in the ruck when Holmesy was resting. The conditions were putrid and didn’t favour tall players, but he provided a good target from defence for us.

Tom Simpkin

Tom spent time in defence, in the midfield and up forward. The conditions suited him perfectly.

Ahmed Saad

Ahmed booted two goals and had a pretty big influence forward of centre for us.

Eli Templeton

Eli kicked two goals. He was more influential in the second half than the first half in relation to his physicality. He started to crack in a bit more and finished the game really strongly.

Hugh Goddard

Hugh was one of our best few. He took seven marks which was terrific in those conditions – the footy was like a cake of soap. He played the first three quarters in defence until we threw him forward in the last term.

Darren Minchington

Darren had 16 touches and cracked in from a defensive point of view. He kicked a lovely goal from about 60 metres out that skidded through. His body work was excellent.

Brenton Payne

Brenton had a quieter day. He was a link player for us at half-forward and the conditions didn’t really suit him. Nevertheless, he continued to work hard and provide an option for us.

Brodie Murdoch

Brodie was best on ground. He played on the wing and through the midfield and after coming into the side late (for Cam Shenton who had a virus), it was a very impressive performance. He was very clean and his body work was first class.

Tom Lee

Tom unfortunately got a poke to the eye early and only played just over a half of footy. Before then he was solid in defence and even had a shot at goal when he pushed forward.

Arryn Siposs

Arryn didn’t get a lot of the ball playing forward, but then we moved him to the wing in the last quarter which played into his hands. His kicks were penetrating and he ended up having a pretty good day.

Josh Saunders

Josh was consistent on the weekend with 21 touches. He won most of these disposals in the back half, so we’re working on getting him to push forward because he has such good leg speed.

Daniel McKenzie

Dan was in and out of the game was probably better early than late. He had a finger injury which limited his output in the second half. He’ll be fine though.

Nathan Wright

Nathan stepped up and had a good game in defence. His attack on the footy and ability to break the lines in wet conditions were valuable tools for us.

Jason Holmes

Jason won the hit outs and got us going with his ruck work. He kicked a crucial goal late which put the result beyond doubt. Overall Jason had another really impressive game.

DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

Spencer White

Spencer played in defence and then went forward. He competed at both ends and provided a contest in conditions not conducive to his style of play.

Daniel Markworth

Daniel had a good game and won his own ball playing as a midfielder.

Joe Baker-Thomas

Joe’s spoiling was good in defence, he just over-committed a couple of times.
