ST KILDA forward Tim Membrey will undergo shoulder surgery later this week following an unfortunate training incident.

The ex-Sydney Swan, who arrived at the club 11 months ago, got scans on Monday which determined his right shoulder would require reconstructive surgery.

Despite the setback, St Kilda medical officer Tim Barbour said he did not expect the injury will plague Membrey heading into the 2016 season.

“Tim dislocated his right shoulder,” Barbour told SAINTS.com.au.

“He’s going in for surgery on Thursday to fix that. Although it’s unfortunate for him, he will be able to resume running in 6-8 weeks and progress to a fairly full pre-season program in the latter part of the year.”

Aside from Membrey, Barbour delivered the following injury assessments:

Jack Lonie:

There is some good news this week with Jack Lonie resuming training. He will be available for selection after the lower leg issue he had a couple of weeks ago.

Eli Templeton:

Eli Templeton has rehabilitated really well from the hamstring complaint. He almost could have played last week, but he’s in to full training and he will be available to play this weekend.

Tom Curren:

Tom Curren has started full pace running and he will progress that into limited skills over the next week or two. He is looking good to hopefully play finals in the VFL in a couple of weeks.

Spencer White:

Spencer has a hairline fracture through the fibula bone in his left leg. That’s the season for Spencer as it’s a 4-6 week injury.

Billy Longer:

Billy had arthroscopic shoulder surgery yesterday and it went really well. He’ll be able to resume for a full pre-season at the right time.

Tom Lee:

Tom has undergone ankle surgery. That went really well and he’ll do a full pre-season program.

Meanwhile, Blake Acres has recovered from his quad injury and will be available for selection this weekend.

Brenton Payne (Ankle), Jack Billings (Shin) and Nathan Wright (finger) will all miss the rest of the season but be fit by the time pre-season training starts later in the year.
