RETIRED forward Adam Schneider will get an introduction to AFL coaching on Saturday night when he sits alongside Alan Richardson in St Kilda’s coaching box.

Richardson has often referred to Schneider as an ‘on-field’ coach in 2015, utilising the mature-aged rookie as a mentor for young players like Jack Lonie and Jack Sinclair.

Having retired last week following his 228th game, Schneider joined the team for the trip west on Friday and even sat in line meetings later in the afternoon.

Alan Richardson said Schneider will play an important role in the coaches box on Saturday evening.

“Adam will help Adam Kingsley with the midfield coaching, especially the stoppage work,” Richardson told SAINTS.com.au.

“Lindsay Gilbee has stayed in Melbourne ahead of Sunday’s VFL final, so ruck coach Adam Skrobalak will take his role down on the boundary which gives Schneids the chance to sit up in the box.”
