ST KILDA Football Club has been recognised for its digital coverage, winning the ‘most outstanding use of online’ at Wednesday night’s Australian Football Media Association Awards.

The club was also highly commended for ‘most outstanding use of social media.’

The recognition pays tribute to the club’s open engagement over the last year, beginning with the Saints Future Fest campaign last September.

St Kilda’s application referenced the Future Fest, the inner sanctum access at draft meetings and on Draft night, Alan Richardson’s coaches box audio in round 11, Schneiderman and social media.

The award was open to all media outlets and clubs. GM - Communications Craig Rowston said the prize was reward for the football department as much as the media and digital department.

“The media and digital departments couldn’t have done it without the great support and cooperation of the footy department and players,” Rowston told SAINTS.com.au.

“Our focus this year was to engage better with our fans by being fun and sharing our story. We had the goal of being THE AFL digital club.

“On behalf of the media and digital teams, I’d like to thank the judges and awards committee. We are very proud to win this award.”
