St Kilda recruit Nathan Freeman has suffered a strain in his right hamstring.

GM Football Performance, Jamie Cox, said the incident was disappointing but would not be a major set-back for the 2013 No. 10 draft pick.

“The strain involves his right hamstring - which he has had some previous trouble with - although it involves a different area of the muscle,” Cox said.

“He will need to pull back from training for a little while to give it time to recover although we don’t see it as a major problem.”

Cox said the 20-year-old had been progressing well before the set-back.

“Nathan has been fitting is really well, training strongly and he has completed plenty of conditioning to this point,” he said.

“While this is a set-back, overall we have been very happy with the health of our playing list for this time of the year.”
