Eli Templeton (36 disposals, 15 marks, six inside 50s, five tackles)

“Eli was close to best on ground with 36 possessions and five tackles. He had a really good game, was consistent across the board. He played mid-forward. I would think he’s put his hand up for senior selection on the back of that performance.”

Tom Curren (22 disposals, 11 handball receives, four tackles, three clearances)

“Tommy had a similar role to Eli, both mid-forward. He was good at getting to the contest, whilst Eli was better on the spread in comparison. It was another dependable performance by Tommy.”

Paddy McCartin (22 disposals, 13 marks (three contested), eight inside 50s, five score assists, 2.2

“Paddy played well; he had the most goal assists for the side. The most pleasing part was he worked up the ground and took 13 marks. He divided his time playing deep inside 50 and provided a contest and also high up through the ground, pushing to trap line.”

Cam Shenton (21 disposals, nine contested possessions, four tackles, three inside 50s, 3.3)

“Cam had a ripper. He had nine shots at goal. He kicked 3.3, missed two and could have had another one that would have had him going back for a ninth shot. He was lively up forward with 21 possessions. He played high up the ground and worked back. He enjoys that. He’s been really consistent in the last month and is putting his hand up for a senior game.”

Tom Lee (20 disposals, 12 marks (three contested), three tackles)

“Tommy Lee, again had 12 marks, but the pleasing thing was he defended first and then dropped off at the right times. He took intercept marks at the right times. We were pleased with our defenders overall, he was solid.”

Nathan Wright (19 disposals, 14 handball receives, four inside 50s)

“Wrighty was good off half-back, he gave us plenty of run. He was our best handball receive player with 14. The fact that he had four inside 50s shows you how hard and how long he was running for. His use was a lot better this week than in previous weeks.”

Nick Coughlan (18 disposals, seven handball receives, six marks)

“He beat his opponent and was aggressive at the right times. He was just a solid contributor across half-back as well. That’s his second game at the level and he looks pretty comfortable.”

Lewis Pierce (17 disposals, five marks, four hitouts, three clearances)

“We had Lewy playing the ruck-forward role this week, so when Billy Longer was in the ruck, Lewy would relieve him, but he ended up playing the last quarter in the ruck because Billy was knocked out. He really gave us a lift in the last quarter in the ruck, helped lead us to 6.8 for the quarter with some important clearances. It was a really good game from Lewy.”

Brodie Murdoch (15 disposals, five marks, four rebound 50s)

“Brodie was good against half-back. He didn’t get beaten at all and used the ball really well to give us that drive. He had four rebound 50s to continue that creative momentum coming from out of defence.”

Daniel McKenzie (14 disposals, four clearances, four inside 50s)

“He played on a wing. We do our trademark ratings individually along with everyone on the list and D-Mac didn’t rate his own performance. It has nothing to do with stats; it’s more to do with effort. He just thought he could have played a bit better than what he did in his own eyes. So he rated himself harshly.”

Bailey Rice (13 disposals, five marks, four inside 50s)

“Bailey had a reasonable game but he is getting caught at times not defending like he needs to. He tends to ball watch and his opponent gets off him at times just at ground level. On the flipside he defended really close at other times, was great with his smothering and his aggressiveness. It’s just consistency with Bailey at the moment, but he’s young he’s just learning the game.”

Brandon White (12 disposals, four handball receives)

“He doesn’t get a lot of the ball yet, but what he does do is he’ll come forward, read the cues early and it really stands out when he does. He applied a really important tackle chasing and created a turnover which resulted in a goal for us. He can break a line with his kicks, so he’s got some good x-factor traits. As he gets more experience he’ll do more of those things more often.”

Luke Delaney (10 disposals, five marks, two rebound 50s)

“He’d set himself to play on Travis Cloke and he didn’t play. But he was reliable down there; we kept him in defence for the whole game after playing him up forward for a half last week. It was a pleasing performance for Del. He didn’t get beaten in contests; maybe the area he can improve is to apply a few more tackles.”

Billy Longer (25 hitouts, eight disposals, seven contested possessions)

“He played predominantly in the ruck. He knocked himself late in the third quarter because he came forward and really influenced a contest. A couple of players were coming back with the flight and he killed the ball and knocked himself out. Billy’s work in the middle was good, in the contests and one-on-one.”

Jason Holmes (five hitouts, three disposals, two marks)

“Don’t let the stats fool you, he only had the three touches but he was really unselfish. He was focusing on his leading patterns and getting to the edges and what that does is create more space in our forward line. Although he was getting bypassed a lot he was opening up space for others so it was a really selfless game from him.”
