St Kilda midfielders Jack Steven and Seb Ross have been recognised for their stunning efforts in Sunday’s win against Essendon, earning spots in AFL Media’s team of the week.

In a team dominated by Greater Western Sydney and Sydney stars, Steven and Ross were rewarded for their midfield performances after playing pivotal roles in the Saints’ 46-point win.

Steven was named in the middle alongside West Coast All Australian’s Nic Naitanui and Matt Priddis and Giants co-captain Callan Ward.

The reigning Trevor Barker Award winner was dominant against the Bombers, collecting 40 possessions, 10 score involvements, 574 metres gained, 10 clearances and nine inside 50s.

Both Steven and Ross shared the Coaches Association vote’s spoils, earning nine votes apiece from Alan Richardson and John Worsfold.

AFL Media named Ross on the bench, alongside class in Sydney midfielder Dan Hannebery, North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein and Greater Western Sydney midfielder Stephen Coniglio.

Ross, 23, produced one of the strongest performances of his career on Sunday night, collecting a career-high  37 disposals, 16 contested possessions, eight clearances and six inside 50s.
