Young rebounding defender Jimmy Webster and emerging midfielder Jack Billings will come into the selection mix to face Adelaide on Sunday, says St Kilda Senior Coach Alan Richardson.

The pair missed last Saturday’s 34-point win over Fremantle, with Webster succumbing to an illness, while Billings failed to get up for the game after injuring his ankle against Essendon the week earlier.

But given the Saints’ run of form, Richardson indicated that there this week’s match committee will be in for a robust discussion to see what changes, if any, are made following back-to-back wins.

“Jimmy was just crook, so he’ll be right for selection. We still have match committee after this,” Richardson told the media at a press conference on Thursday.

“Billings was an ankle and it wasn’t severe. He was almost right to play (against Fremantle). We’d expect him to get through (training) and we’ll wait for match committee to see what happens.”

Richardson praised the performance of rebounding defender Brodie Murdoch in his first senior game of the year. The South Australian replaced Webster in the Saints’ back six and performed strongly against the Dockers.

“I was happy with Brodie’s game. I thought that he did a really good job in defending his man and at the right time he was able to get off and give us some drive – he kicked a really good goal for us. We think he’s heading in the right way,” Richardson said.
