Emerging St Kilda midfielder Seb Ross has continued his stunning season, earning a perfect ten votes from the coaches following his effort against Geelong on Saturday night.

In his 50th game, the 23-year-old produced one of the finest performances of his career. Not only did he collect 33 possessions of his own, he also limited the influence of Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield.

Star midfielder Jack Steven also continued his excellent year, acquiring seven votes from Alan Richardson and Chris Scott after another eye-catching performance on the weekend.

The 26-year-old collected Coaches Association votes for the eighth time this season as he moved inside the top-ten in the player of the year leaderboard for the first time in 2016.

It was the quality of Steven’s possessions and his ferocious intensity, rather than his pure numbers that got the job done at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night, as his breakneck pace broke the game open at different stages.

Defensive forward Mav Weller was also rewarded for the best performance of his year to date, and perhaps his best game in red, white and black.

Weller, 24, set the tone with his elite pressure, and collected 19 possessions, seven score involvements, six tackles, four inside 50s and two goals.

After 14 rounds, Dangerfield holds a two-vote lead over teammate Joel Selwood and big mover Rory Sloane, while Dustin Martin has also made a charge in recent weeks to sit in fourth position in the AFLCA champion player of the year award.
