St Kilda ruckman Tom Hickey has been rewarded for his outstanding performance against Melbourne with a full complement of votes from the coaches.

Both Alan Richardson and Paul Roos allocated five votes each to Hickey following his effort on All Australian contender Max Gawn on Sunday.

Hickey not only nullified the usually influential Demons ruckman, but also inflicted plenty of damage around the ground, using the ball with precision to prompt Richardson to label him as an extra midfielder in his post-match press conference.

The 25-year-old collected a career-high 21 possessions, 27 hitouts, four clearances and three inside 50s in one of the finest performances of his career.

Spearhead Tim Membrey was also rewarded for his strong showing with eight votes from the coaches.

The heavily inked key forward booted 4.2 from 10 marks and 16 possessions on Sunday, with six of his grabs taken inside the arc.

Saints leaders Sean Dempster (two votes), Jack Newnes (two votes), Jarryn Geary (one vote) and Leigh Montagna (one vote) were all recognised for their roles in St Kilda’s 36-point win.

With Dempster rewarded after holding star Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan to one goal, while Geary kept goal sneak Jeff Garlett quiet as well as kicking two running goals of his own.

After 17 rounds, Adelaide star Rory Sloane (80 votes) leads the AFL CA champion player of the year award by one vote from former teammate Patrick Dangerfield (79 votes), while Richmond game breaker Dustin Martin (74 votes) has moved into third place.
