St Kilda has put defender Jimmy Webster on ice for the remainder of the season after he suffered a hamstring strain in his right leg at Thursday's main training session.

Webster, who had recently returned from a hamstring injury to his left leg, was one of Sandringham's best players in their loss against Box Hill last weekend and was in the frame to return to the senior side against Richmond on Saturday.

Saints GM – Football Performance Jamie Cox confirmed Webster would miss the remainder of St Kilda's 2016 season.

"Jimmy experienced a low grade hamstring strain to his right leg during training on Thursday, which is a different leg to the one he injured mid-year,” Cox said.

“We will use the remaining couple of weeks of the season to ensure Jimmy fully recovers and rehabilitates, and is fully fit day one of pre-season,” he said.

The Tasmanian has managed 11 games this season, with his last senior berth coming in the Saints’ Round 14 win against the Cats.
