St Kilda Football Club has awarded star midfielder, David Armitage, and long-time club doctor, Ian Stone, life membership for their outstanding contribution to the football club.

Armitage qualified for life membership this year after completing 10 years of service at the Saints. After debuting against Hawthorn in Round 8, 2007, the 2006 pick No. 9 reached the 150-game milestone in the final game of this season in the big win over Brisbane last Sunday.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a career-best season in 2015, finishing second behind game breaking midfielder, Jack Steven, in the Trevor Barker Award.

Dr Stone has been St Kilda Football Club’s doctor since 1997 and is a current member of the AFL Doctor’s Association. In his twenty years of faithful service to the club, Ian has overseen player care, injury prevention and treatment across four grand finals and nine finals series.

Separate from St Kilda, Ian was club doctor at Fitzroy Football club from 1984 until they merged with Brisbane at the end of 1996. He has been involved in four International Rules series between Australia and Ireland, most recently supporting the Indigenous representative side in 2013.

The many players who have been under Ian’s care over the past twenty seasons have described him as a caring and talented physician, who played an invaluable part in their careers, and lives.
