Three games into his new life at the Saints, key defender Nathan Brown admits he is thoroughly enjoying the change of scenery, especially after playing a key role in St Kilda’s first win of 2017 on Sunday.

The Collingwood premiership full-back landed at Linen House Centre as a free agent last October and after an eye-catching performance against dual Coleman medallist Josh Kennedy last weekend, Brown produced another strong effort on Lions young gun Josh Schache.

“It’s been great, I’m definitely not regretting the move across to the Saints,” Brown told saints.com.au after St Kilda’s 31-point win on Sunday.

“I’m enjoying playing footy, enjoying playing under ‘Richo’ and Jarryn Geary and to get a win today is good.

"I’ll sit down and reflect tonight and then get back to work tomorrow and look forward to taking down the old club."

While St Kilda is yet to produce a full four-quarter effort just yet this season, Brown believes that when they do they will be able to compete with any team on any day.

“We played one quarter against Melbourne in Round 1 here, played three and a half quarters over in the west which is a great effort but not good enough,” he said.

“Today was a bit hit and miss, so we’re still after that four quarter effort. We know that when we do that and play our way we’re going to be hard to beat.”

Brown echoed Alan Richardson’s comments post-game, marvelling at Nick Riewoldt’s capacity to not only overcome an injury setback, but return at a high level. The champion forward was arguably best on ground on Sunday, producing another vintage effort.

“That’s one thing I’ve really liked seeing coming across from Collingwood, seeing how he goes about his footy. I know he goes about it on the field, but off the field is just amazing," he said.

“To get up and tick off every single part of rehab to get up for today and not just get through the game but be outstanding as well is a credit to himself. It was good to have him back.”

Ahead of his first clash against the side he spent 11 seasons with, Brown said he will experience a range of emotions in the lead-up to the clash with Collingwood on Easter Sunday.

“I’ll have different sorts of emotions but once I get here on game day I’ll just click straight into business and playing our way and getting a win,” he said.

“I will think about it, seeing the black and white stripes and having one on, but I’d rather have the red part of my jumper on and being part of the Saints.”
