St Kilda Coach Alan Richardson has lauded Jack Billings after the emerging star produced another dominant display against Gold Coast at Etihad Stadium on Sunday night.

Billings, 21, continued his impressive run of form in the final game of Round 14, collecting 30 disposals, 12 score involvements, eight marks, seven inside 50s, three goal assists and one goal of his own.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Richardson said the 2013 No. 3 pick is reaping the rewards for the effort he puts in behind the scenes.

“I think Jack has become a really consistent player. I thought it was a really complete game from him today,” Richardson told reporters after St Kilda’s 31-point win on Sunday night.

“His ability to make the most of his opportunities and to get a lot of opportunities as a forward, to get those sort of numbers is really good work.

“His physicality and his ability to be able to win the ball in contest has improved. That’s testament to him and the work he’s doing with [Aaron] Hamill and [Adam] Kingsley.”

Richardson likened the polished forward to other dangerous medium-sized forwards like Port Adelaide All-Australian’s Chad Wingard and Robbie Gray and Hawthorn superstar Cyril Rioli, due to Billings’ ability to inflict game-changing damage forward of centre.

“He’s a bit like those guys [Chad] Wingard or Robbie Gray and perhaps even Cyril; those guys have real tricks in front of the ball,” Richardson said.

“There’s not too many midfielders who can go forward and do what those type of players do and they are all different.

“We’ll need him to go through the midfield (in the future) and he was in the midfield today. He’ll do a bit of both.”
