The 25-year-old was influential in the centre, and he formed part of the midfield group that annihilated the Suns in the clearances 54-21.

Fellow onballer Jack Steven finished with 28 touches and game-high numbers in both contested possessions and clearances, with 16 and 12 respectively.

Steven’s trademark run was again a feature of his game, as the 28-year-old willed his side onto an historic win.

David Armitage enjoyed a fruitful return to senior football on the occasion of his 30th birthday, amassing 25 possessions and gaining a team-high 511 metres for the Saints.

The performance of Jade Gresham, whose classy snap snatched the lead and the four points for St Kilda, was rewarded by the judges.
