The Saints will welcome their skipper back into the fold as well as a fresh debutant when they face the Demons at 1.10pm at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

Captain Jarryn Geary has made a recovery from the left calf strain he sustained against the West Coast Eagles, whilst young Irish hurling convert Darragh Joyce will make his AFL debut.

Geary is a straight swap for the injured Jimmy Webster, who is still experiencing groin soreness after being forced from the field in the opening term against the Suns.

The 30-year-old’s wealth of experience and hardness at the football should sure up the St Kilda backline, and his ability to perform shutdown roles will serve to mitigate the influence of the Demons’ potent forward setup.

In exciting news for Saints fans, Darragh Joyce’s years’ worth of hard work have paid off as the Irishman runs out in the red, white and black for the first time on Sunday.

Joyce earns his debut on the back of a string of impressive VFL performances, and the 21-year-old 194cm defender comes in for the omitted Logan Austin.

Returned key forward Josh Bruce will spend another week in the VFL as he looks to regain his best form, while Blake Acres is still at least one week away from a comeback.
