Senior physiotherapist Andrew Wallis has confirmed that young spearhead Josh Battle (eye socket) is back in contention for selection this week.

After sustaining a knock to the face in the Saints’ Round 15 win over Melbourne, the 21-year-old is raring to go again.

Seb Ross (illness) was a late withdrawal from last Friday night’s clash with Carlton, but the important midfielder has recovered and will be available for selection.

Blake Acres (groin) has worked his way back into form in the VFL for the last two weeks after over two months on the sidelines, and he could earn a senior call-up this week.

Darren Minchington’s (hip) availability will be subject to testing, as will Jimmy Webster’s (groin), while young defender Logan Austin (groin) is still one week away from a return.

Nathan Brown (hamstring) is progressing well with his hamstring and will likely be available for selection next week, while Ben Long (foot fracture) is also only one week away after a long period on the sidelines.

Paddy McCartin (foot) will remove his moonboot off in the next couple of days and recommence training, while Josh Bruce (leg), Dylan Roberton (heart) and Koby Stevens (concussion) remain on the long-term injury list.
