St Kilda Football Club is pleased to announce that it has secured the services of highly regarded assistant coach Brendon Lade.

The Port Adelaide premiership ruckman joins the Saints after an extensive coaching and playing career spanning more than two decades.

Following a decorated 234-game career that included the 2004 premiership, two best-fairest awards and an All-Australian honour in 2006, Lade spent seven years as an assistant at Richmond before returning to the Power as a line coach in 2016.

St Kilda General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean said Lade was a great addition.

“Brendon is a high-quality person who will add a significant amount of knowledge and experience to our coaching team,” Lethlean said.

“We look forward to welcoming him and his family to the club,” Lethlean said.

Lade said he was excited by the opportunity to join the Saints.

“I know the club hasn’t enjoyed the year they would have hoped for but there is a lot of talented young guys who I am looking forward to working with,” he said.

“I can’t wait to get started at the club ahead of the pre-season.”

Lade will join the Saints in October ahead of the beginning of pre-season training on November 7.
