When it comes down to players making a monumental impact (and looking cool while doing so), it’s hard to look past the game-changing prowess of forward spearhead, Jesse Wardlaw.

The former Lion has charged up St Kilda’s forward line as its focal point since moving across in 2023, however also had just as much of an impact when thrown into the ruck. The superstar followed up her first season at RSEA Park with an even better one in 2024, finishing second in the Best & Fairest and being named Sainter of the Year.

Wardlaw has always been a firm believer of leaving fear behind and pursuing the next challenge. Learning how to play the drums was one of the most recent, but there’s been an exhaustive list before that. Netballer-turned-footballer, Kiwi-turned-Aussie, Lion-turned-Saint; Wardlaw has rarely stood still.

Born in Ashburton, New Zealand (her mother is Māori and family hails from the Waikato region in South Auckland), Wardlaw’s budding football career took off unexpectedly after giving nine-a-side football a go at her local school.
