ST KILDA’s first two draft picks from 2014 will play for the club for the first time together on Sunday afternoon, following Paddy McCartin’s inclusion in the 22 this afternoon.

McCartin joins fellow key position player Hugh Goddard in the team following a string of excellent VFL performances.

The duo grew up playing for the Geelong Falcons, before further enhancing their reputations for Vic Country in the same side.

Meanwhile, Eli Templeton has also been named, alongside skipper Nick Riewoldt, whose calf recovered well from Thursday’s training session.

Templeton collected 17 disposals, registered four inside 50s and booted two goals for Sandringham last weekend in difficult conditions.

Adam Schneider, Tim Membrey and Seb Ross have been omitted, with Tom Hickey joining Membrey and Schneider as an emergency.

But what will excite St Kilda fans most is the prospect of two teenagers making a name for themselves at opposite ends of the field this Sunday.

McCartin, (19) has been named on the bench, while Goddard (18) will start in the back pocket.

“Paddy was the carry-over last week so he didn’t play,” Alan Richardson told SAINTS.com.au.

“He has been the dominant forward at VFL for a few weeks now. He has been able to improve in certain areas of his game that he needed to address. He’s embraced that and his attitude has been terrific.

“We all know that he will be a very good player for a long time and this is a good opportunity to give him another go.”

Templeton has not played senior footy since round eight, and although he has worked on his inside game for Sandringham, Richardson suggested he will play more of an outside running role against Richmond on Sunday evening.

“Eli has had a really good month of footy,” Richardson said.

“His role at AFL level will be as wingman and high forward as opposed to inside midfielder. We think his speed, run and quality ball use is something that can help our team. We’re confident that he will come and execute his role.”
