Reigning Trevor Barker Award winner Seb Ross and rising star Jack Billings are set to challenge each other as St Kilda’s best player in 2018, according to Saints supporters.

After a few days of the fan survey, ball magnet Ross is narrowly ahead of smooth-mover Billings.

St Kilda fans have backed Ross to win his second consecutive best and fairest, to poll the most votes in the Brownlow Medal and to become the first Saint since Nick Riewoldt in 2014 to earn All-Australian selection.

Three-time Trevor Barker Award winner Jack Steven is the next cab off the rank in all three areas, but for now, the question centres around Ross and Billings.

Have your say: 2018 predictions

After producing a breakout 2016, Ross climbed to new heights last year, emerging as one of the most improved midfielders in the competition.

Much like Ross 12 months earlier, Billings put injury-interrupted seasons behind him in 2017, playing every game to establish himself as one of the more damaging half-forwards in the AFL.
