St Kilda Football Club will commemorate its 150th Anniversary on-field with a special edition home guernsey, both acknowledging those who have come before and the future still to be written.

Unveiled by club legends and former captains Lenny Hayes, Robert Harvey, Stewart Loewe and Ross Smith alongside leading forward Max King, the guernsey incorporates multiple elements from various St Kilda eras to create a new, but traditional look for 2023.

Most notably, the club’s commemorative crest has been placed in a black patch with rounded edges, harkening back to the fan-favourite look adopted by the Saints from 1986-1996.

Pinstriped cuffs and collars pay homage to the design of the 2000s, while the red panel has been raised to the neckline in a full return to the classic red, white and black tricolour motif. The middle panel has also been widened to reinstate the timeless design.

Long-sleeve versions of the guernsey will incorporate all-black sleeves.

"Growing up as a kid wearing the St Kilda jumper to now pulling on the guernsey at the highest level is so special," King said.

The crest is what we play for. Past players have come back to the club to speak to us about it and what it means to them. It gives us an appreciation of the history of the club and how lucky we are to pull on the red, white and black every week.

- Max King

"St Kilda has such a rich history and the current players know we're really lucky to be part of it. I'm very grateful to have the chance to run out there in the club's 150th year and I really want to take that opportunity to achieve success."

St Kilda will additionally wear a one-off commemorative guernsey in its yet-to-be-confirmed match to celebrate its 150th Anniversary, the fixture of which will be announced in the coming weeks.
