Following the clubs first ever Spud’s Game win last week, there’s a lot to unpack at Ross’ weekly press conference.

Smalls and talls to fill forward void

Lyon has confirmed the in-form Anthony Caminiti will play against the Bombers this weekend in place of the suspended Max King, with Dan Butler also a lock should he get through training today.

Both Caminiti and Butler put in strong performances in Friday's VFL match at RSEA Park, with the former jagging two goals while his experienced counterpart bagged one to go with his eight tackles.

The 20-year-old Caminiti kicked 20 goals in his first year at the Saints, and Lyon is sure he can play his role against a fierce-looking Bombers side.

“He’s been in good form … I’m sure he’ll come in and compete,” Lyon said.

The Saints will be further boosted by the speed and pressure brought by Butler, with Lyon highly optimistic he will slip right into the attacking half after a pre-season ankle setback.

King's absence comes following injuries to Liam Henry (hamstring) and Mason Wood (collarbone, concussion) from last week's game against the Pies, while Brad Crouch will also spend some time on the sidelines recovering from knee surgery.

The final line-up will be confirmed in tonight’s team announcement.

Next man up

Following a courageous win against the reigning premiers last week, Lyon admitted his side's sequence of injuries have added up.

But in true Ross fashion, there’s no time to fret.

"It’s unfortunate but we’ve dealt with it before,” Lyon said in reference to last year's campaign.

Despite losing Mason Wood and Liam Henry from Round 2, Lyon was impressed by his players who stepped up to the plate to see the 15-point win through.

In a fast-paced and momentum-filled game, Ryan Byrnes, Bradley Hill and Darcy Wilson tore it up on the wing, which did not go unrecognised by their coach.

“Byrnes just picked it up and ran with it, I thought he was one of our better players,” Lyon said.

Byrnes registered five tackles and 21 disposals in the absence is his fellow wingman Wood, capping off a strong 50-game outing for the club.

'Not breathing out'

Despite a stirring win for the Saints last week, the self-described "hard to impress" senior coach remains grounded and matter of fact heading into Saturday's contest.

While his side was deserving of praise from Spud's Game, Lyon's side was quick to roll the sleeves back up, reviewing both the game's bookends where Collingwood had the upper hand, along with the moments where the Saints' brand of football was on full display.

“None of us are relaxed here … it doesn’t feel like anyone has breathed out,” Lyon said.
