For the first time in its 148-year history, St Kilda Football Club has surpassed 50,000 members.

“To exceed 50,000 members is such a significant milestone and one that our entire club is exceptionally proud of,” St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis said.

“Our members are the lifeblood of our club. Every decision we make, every game we play, every opportunity we seize – it’s all for them.

“We’ve all ridden the highs and the lows – some far longer than others – in supporting the Saints and have persevered through some challenging periods as a club. But the one thing that has never changed is the loyalty of our members.

Fortius Quo Fidelius, strength through loyalty. It’s on our crest but it’s more than that. For Saints fans it’s in their blood, and we’re so proud of that.

“This is also such a great accomplishment for our staff who have had to remain extremely agile to service our members throughout the nature of the past twelve months.”

St Kilda AFL Senior Coach Brett Ratten felt the embrace of the Saints faithful upon joining the club, witnessing their dedication first-hand.

“The passion with which Saints fans support the club is second to none,” Brett Ratten said.

“You can hear it in the stands at Marvel, you can see it over the fence at training and you can feel it every time we sing our song.

“I know that every week, our players put our guernsey on with pride knowing that they’re representing not only our members but all those who have gone before.

“Our main aim is to continue to make our people proud.”

For those not yet on board, there is still plenty of time to sign up, with the final membership tally not finalised until the official cut-off date in July.
