St Kilda’s General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean has detailed his plan of attack in the coming months to better position the football club ahead of the 2019 season.

Lethlean gave an overview of the exit interview process and revealed who’s involved from the football department.

“We spread the 46 players across those couple of days, and essentially roll them through medical screening, player welfare and coaching/performance review,” he told the Dare Drink it Through Podcast.

“They’re pretty important conversations either setting expectations for the year to come, rounding out performance for the year just gone, and in some cases, having conversations about what their future looks like, so it’s a pretty serious day … it’s not necessarily the best part of the industry.”

Lethlean also said that not every player’s future will be set in concrete in the process.

There’s different conversations to be had; some we’ll have more definitive views on, some we’ll unfortunately have to wait and see what transpires across the next six weeks, and some might have feedback for us, who knows?

“You’d like to be definitive at all times, but the nature of the trade period, free agency movement, contract negotiations, means that it won’t be definitive for all – and in some cases for us.
