After retiring in 2016, former Magpie Jonathon Marsh realised his ambitions of returning to the elite level after joining St Kilda as a pre-season supplemental selection just before Season 2019 got underway.

The West Australian booted a goal in his first game for the red, white and black against the Giants, before establishing himself as a passionate and vocal leader for Sandringham in the VFL.

Eye-catching bursts throughout the 2020 pre-season saw the explosive Saint bolt up the pecking order, with his first appearance for the year – in front of a 10,000-strong crowd at RSEA Park, no less – featuring a memorable goal from the pocket.

Marsh earned a senior call-up in Round 3 against his former side, booting goals against Collingwood and Richmond to hold his spot for the next month as predominantly a defensive forward.

The passionate Saint has since been deployed in a variety of roles in the reserves, most notably as an attacking, inside midfielder.

Marsh was originally selected by Collingwood with pick No. 77 in the 2013 National Draft, before joining St Kilda in 2019 under the pre-season supplemental selection period.
