At St Kilda Football Club, we believe culture is not defined by words - it’s defined by actions.
That belief led us to rethink how we articulate what we stand for.
In 2024, we brought our people together and asked a simple but powerful question:
“At the Saints, what do we look like when we’re at our best?”
The response was overwhelming. More than 60 perspectives were shared across our administrative teams, capturing real behaviours and lived experiences.
We then brought together the values of our AFL and AFLW playing groups to ensure alignment across the entire Club.
From there, we identified the common ground - the shared essence that sits at the heart of St Kilda.
Through a series of workshops with our Executive Leadership Team and Executive, and with the support of our Board, these insights were refined into what we now call our club mantras.
We made a deliberate choice to move away from traditional one-word values.
Instead, we created mantras - statements in action.
Mantras are active. They are easier to connect to. And most importantly, they guide behaviour in a way that static words cannot.
Our mantras reflect both who we are today and who we aspire to be:
