St Kilda Football Club has appointed Kirstan Corben as the inaugural Executive Director of the Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing (DFC).

Corben will be responsible for leading the DFC from its opening on 1 March, helping galvanise its presence in the community as a world-class facility with a wealth of evidence-based mental and physical health services.

Corben has also joined St Kilda’s Executive Leadership Team.

“We’re thrilled to have Kirstan join the club in this prestigious position,” St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis said.

“Kirstan’s work in preventative health and early intervention has achieved local, national and international impact and her experience in forming successful partnerships with a host of organisations from government, corporate, health, community, education and sport will be particularly beneficial for the Danny Frawley Centre in its formative years.

“While her experience stands in terrific company, it is Kirstan’s passion to support the physical and mental health of the community which will help accelerate the DFC’s impact.”

Corben commenced her career as a physiotherapist before broadening her focus in a series of population health roles with Alfred Health. She first connected with St Kilda through her senior leadership position at VicHealth, in which she oversaw their significant investment in health programs and partnerships across the sporting and community sectors.

Corben has also served as a board member of Star Health delivering health and wellbeing services to our local community here in Melbourne’s south, and more recently, worked with the Victorian Government.

“It’s incredibly exciting to be part of the Danny Frawley Centre and help begin its legacy of changing lives for the better,” Corben said.

“Sport, community and wellbeing are huge passions of mine, and I truly believe sport has an incredible ability to bring people together from all walks of life.

“I’m proud to be in this role and am incredibly excited to see the impact the DFC will have on the entire community.”

The Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing is set to officially open on Tuesday 1 March.
