This is 13-year-old Kobi Chatfield.

Kobi is a proud Eastern Maar teenager and a member of the Russells Creek Football Netball Club, based out in Warrnambool, Victoria.

A lover of footy, art and his culture, Kobi put his hand up to create an Indigenous jumper design that could be worn in his league’s multicultural round.

With Pepper Money’s help through the Real Life Fund, Kobi’s set out to make his vision a reality and produce guernsey’s for the Russells Creek football and netball teams.

In what was a special pre-game presentation, Kobi took the community through the meaning behind his design.

“The V represents the Hopkins River, which is a special place in Warrnambool, it is a special place for me,” said Kobi.

“The green meeting places down here are the footsteps leading up to The Mack Oval, where the community and the opposition come to play footy and netball.

“I just want you to go out there, play your footy. Respect the jumper, respect the team and hopefully get a win.”

To cap it all off, Kobi also invited to deliver the match ball for Sunday’s Round 11 clash between St Kilda and North Melbourne, thanks to Pepper Money.

In 2022, Pepper Money and St Kilda teamed up to launch the Real Life Fund, an initiative to provide community groups and individuals, like Kobi, with the funds they need to get back to doing what they do best - bringing people together and helping them succeed. Learn more about the fun here.
