St Kilda Football Club wishes to congratulate its Indigenous Development Manager, Aunty Katrina Amon, on winning the Courageous Commitment Award at the 2023 Kingston Women of the Year Awards.

A proud Quandamooka woman, Amon joined the Saints in February last year to lead the club's growing support in the First Nations and education space.

Her contributions at the club have been profound, helping St Kilda's Indigenous players reach their potential and educating the entire club through the enrichment of Indigenous culture with multiple initiatives.

While Amon's impact at the Saints has been over a short period, the Kingston community has benefitted from her incredible work over decades.

This has included her co-founding the Derrimut Weetham Gathering Place for Kingston's Aboriginal community to gather, meet and celebrate its rich, historic culture, while also establishing the Kingston Koori Mob through Parkdale Secondary College, where she has taught for 34 years.

Amon was also a finalist for the Kingston Woman of the Year Award, with the council's ceremony held on International Women's Day to celebrate the contribution that women make to industry, community and society.
