Cats: Willis 2, Hughes 2, Hardie 2, Herbert, Chalcraft, Bews, Antonac
Isaac Keeler
Seven disposals, two tackles, two hitouts
Isaac struggled to inject himself into the game, not through lack of effort or trying new things but the force of Geelong's key defensive players. He looked good when his opportunities came around the contest.
Jack Hayes
One goal, 12 disposals, four tackles
A solid game from Jack as he looked to tear the game apart at times. There were a few missed marks which he’s usually have covered however his forward-50 pressure was strong all day. Good to see him get through a second game in a row.
Zaine Cordy
16 disposals, 11 kicks, eight marks
An assorted game for Zaine but when he did play assertively, he was hard to beat. Playing back shoulder comes down to a bit of luck at times but he did manage to win the ball back on a few occasions. All in all, a strong game as he held great leadership again down back.
Angus Hastie
21 disposals, seven marks, three tackles
Angus played a full game on the wing and looked comfortable there as he executed another strong running game. He was lively with the ball in his hands, provided support down back but we also loved seeing him get inside our forward 50 for a shot on goal.
Arie Schoenmaker
One goal, 29 disposals, eight marks
We saw improvement in Arie’s defensive and contest work this week but uncharacteristically his kicking was slightly off kilter. He still booted an important goal from outside 50 which gave us a chance to stay in the game.
Matthew Allison
One goal, 11 disposals, five marks
Matthew started like a house on fire. He was a force up forward, taking the most contested marks on the ground, the only downside being they were all in the first quarter. He petered out a little as the game went on so finding the consistency for four quarters is the target for him.
Ben Paton
19 disposals, four marks, three tackles
Ben played as an inside mid for three quarters, giving us needed run and drive before going half back in the last. He showed some good signs as a midfielder, had speed, power and was clean getting involved in some of our scoring chains at the start of the third quarter to get us back in front.
Hugo Garcia
20 disposals, 10 tackles, five clearances
Hugo did a great job to compete and have a strong performance the day after an AFL game. He went forward in the last as he wore off but overall, we loved his strong run and chase throughout the game, proud of him to be able to back it up.
Riley Bonner
29 disposals, 20 kicks, two tackles
Riley didn’t have the same impact as last week as he struggled for consistency throughout the game. He suffered a loss of composure in the last quarter which was disappointing however we did like his strong ball use and composure by foot which had been a focus.
Tom Campbell
46 hitouts, 26 disposals, four tackles
Another mammoth game for Tom on the weekend, he just competed so strongly around stoppages. The midfield group got beaten in the third, but Tom’s energy, contest and fight was applicable throughout the whole game.
Oli Hotton
18 disposals, five clearances, one tackle
It wasn’t a huge game for Oli, he had some moments early on where he drove his legs and looked strong for us and others where he coughed up the ball.
Max Hall
Two goals, 18 disposals, four tackles
One of our better performers, Max played as a high half forward, had three shots at goal and made the most of his opportunities all game. We sent him inside the stoppage in the last quarter to give us some drive which he was able to execute despite the ambush from Geelong’s strong midfield. Really good performance by Max.
Angus McLennan
20 disposals, eight marks, one tackle
A strong game on Sunday for Angus as he arrived back in the fold post his first two AFL games. He brought back lessons learnt in decision making and communication on ground as he intercepted the ball well. Held his head high and competed well for the team post his AFL stint which we liked to see.
Max Heath
Seven disposals, five tackles, 11 hitouts
Was a quiet game for Max this week. He was unfortunately pretty sore going into the game, struggling to find consistency with competitiveness which is not something you’d traditionally see with Max.
Liam O’Connell
15 disposals, four marks, three tackles
Liam played on the other wing to Angus Hastie and looked strong all game. He took a couple of big hits and put his body on the line for his team as he’s continued to do each week. We love his fire for improvement as traits in running, jumping and using his body to advantage have progressed each week.
