St Kilda key defender Jake Carlisle has been recognised for his dominant display in the wet at Adelaide Oval, earning eight coaches votes along with Port Adelaide match winners Robbie Gray and Paddy Ryder.

While the Power pair were instrumental in the final play and in their two-point win, Carlisle produced one of his best performances since crossing to Linen House Centre.

The 25-year-old stood tall down back in very difficult conditions, hauling in eight intercept marks (four contested), nine spoils and 18 possessions, including 14 intercepts – three more than any other player in Round 19.

Alan Richardson and Ken Hinkley also included mobile forward Tim Membrey and midfielders Luke Dunstan and Seb Ross in their votes, with the trio all receiving two votes each.

Dunstan (27 disposals, eight tackles and seven inside 50s) and Ross (31 disposals, six clearances and six inside 50s) were two of the best midfielders on the ground, while Membrey made the most of his opportunities in front of goal and was the only multiple goal kicker on the ground with three.

After 19 rounds of 2017, Richmond game breaker Dustin Martin (101 votes) has marched out in front in the Coaches Award, ahead of reigning Brownlow medallist Patrick Dangerfield (94 votes), with Hawthorn ball magnet Tom Mitchell (69 votes) further back.
