St Kilda Football Club is pleased to announce leading businessman Andrew Bassat has been appointed to the Board as a director.

Andrew is the CEO of SEEK Limited and an Executive Director, having co-founded the company with his brother Paul.

Launched in 1997 and listed in 2005, SEEK is the world’s largest employment marketplace by revenue, profit and market capitalisation.

Since its inception, Andrew has driven strategy for the online employment marketplace and led the creation and development of the international and education businesses.

In 2013, Andrew was named the Australian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year.

Prior to co-founding SEEK, Andrew was a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton and before that he worked as a solicitor at Corrs Chamber Westgarth.

President Peter Summers said Bassat is a significant appointment to the Saints Board.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Andrew to the Board and I am confident he will make a substantial contribution to the continued growth of our club,” he said.

“Andrew has a long history of success as a businessman and entrepreneur and he will bring a wealth of experience and expertise that the Board will benefit from.

“Andrew’s strong commercial acumen will be invaluable as we not only continue to build our existing revenue streams but as we identify and cultivate new sources of revenue,” Summers said.

As a long-term St Kilda FC supporter, Andrew is thrilled to merge his business and sporting interests.

“I am delighted to join the board at such an exciting time in St Kilda Football Club’s journey,” he said.

“The club has terrific leadership in place in the key roles of president, CEO, senior coach and captain, which is complemented by a young and enthusiastic playing group and administrative team.

“I am excited by the prospect of playing a role to help the club achieve sustained on- and off-field success,” Bassat said.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) degree from the University of Melbourne, a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from Monash University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Melbourne Business School.
