CAMERON Shenton began the season as a rookie and thoroughly earned his elevation and subsequent debut through excellent form in the VFL.

Playing as a rebounding defender in the second half of the year, the 23-year-old enjoyed a stellar six weeks of footy before he donned the red, white and black for the first time against Hawthorn in round 20.

Shenton is a versatile player who appears most comfortable running off a back-flank, but is capable of playing higher up the ground with a long and penetrating kick and a solid build.

Development coach Tony Micale:

“Cameron was a versatile player this year. He came to the club as a forward but played his best footy this season as a half-back in the VFL. He had a really consistent four or five weeks in the VFL which led to a senior call-up.

He got elevated and he played a game which was great for him and well-deserved. Cameron has an outstanding attitude and trained all summer. He was also our highest vote getter in the Liston medal.”
