JACK Billings is preparing himself for a 30 days of intense rehab in a bid to be ready for St Kilda’s round one clash against GWS.

The emerging midfielder is expected to miss four weeks after injuring his hamstring on Saturday and is buoyant that he will be fully fit for the opening round of the home and away season on April 5.

“I’m confident [that I will be available for this game],” Billings told SAINTS.com.au.

“Obviously I will have to wait and see how the hamstring responds to my rehab, but fingers crossed I’ll hopefully be available come the start of the season.”

The 19-year-old has already begun his rehabilitation and is mindful of the fact that this is the second strain of the same hamstring in seven months.

Billings missed the last three games in 2014 with an almost identical injury.

“It’s the start of the season so you just want to get it right,” he said.

“The fact I did it in the same spot last year means I know what to expect with all the rehab and how long it will take.

“Hopefully it all goes well… I’m hoping to be able to do some running by the end of the week.”

Despite the setback, the classy left footer maintains that his pre-season fitness regime has him well positioned to make significant improvements in 2015.

“I’ve enjoyed the pre-season and being able to do everything has been good,” he said.

“This is a little hiccup now but hopefully I can get back pretty soon.”

Billings played 16 senior games in 2014, booted 14 goals, and earned a Rising Star Nomination for his performance against West Coast in round 14.
