Jack Steele will remain on restricted duties this week as the Saints step up their preparations for Round 2.

The midfielder underwent an arthroscope on Monday to address a bone spur causing pain in his right wrist.

While the tackling machine will be forced to watch on form the sidelines as the Saints enter full contact drills for the first time, the procedure isn’t expected to halt his preparations for Round 2.

Steele will complete a running session later this week before resuming normal duties in next week’s major sessions.

The 24-year-old joins Darragh Joyce as the only players who will be on a modified program with the Irishman returning from a hamstring tendon issue.

Star midfielder Jade Gresham’s PCL rehabilitation is progressing strongly, while Ben Long’s right ankle also recovered well over the break.

Both are on track to take their place against the Western Bulldogs in Round 2.

Meanwhile, rookie Jack Bell has fully recovered from a left wrist setback and has returned to full training.
